Fabric Garland Tutorial

Fabric garlands give a gorgeous, handmade, rustic feel to any party and add a lovely touch a desert table, adding textural interest and pulling all the colours together.

Supplies needed:

selection of fabrics - I purchased 20cm of each of the 6 fabrics shown above, which was enough to create a garland approx 3 metres(10ft) in length

twine, string or cord

scissors

1. Create strips approx 20cm long x 2.5cm (1") wide. Don't be too fussy, just measure by eye!

2. To attach, fold the strip in half and loop around the string, and pull tight. I found it easier to attach the fabric to the twine if it was hanging between two chairs.

3. repeat with each colour until you have used all your strips! I repeated the same pattern over and over.

I love it. I think I will make one for an upcoming rustic lodge themed shower next weekend!!

I'll let you know!!

  1. Cute! I am definitely going to make one of these for my little boy's bday party in April. It's going to be a cowboy theme. This will look great on the cake table!
