DESIGN ON THE FLY

Snips & Snails

I was asked to do a surprise baby shower by one of my sweetest return customers. It was to be held in the hospital for doctors and nurses on the floor where they work. And that is all I knew.

Well, I was told it was to be held in the break room. But in my
"I don't work, so I envision a nice breakroom in a hospital"
brain, I wasn't concerned.

I prepared the perfect party of baby blue prints by

The night before I made
blue hydrangea flower arrangements

prepared a candy bar "sweetscape" and delicious cupcakes.

The next morning I got a little concerned when this is what I walked into:

YIKES! "Oh, this is a breakroom."

My lovely client had all trust in me, as I have never done her wrong. I just smiled and got really busy.

They locked me in the room (it was to be a surprise for the mother-to-be) and posted a note on the door that read

Do Not  Enter
Chemical Spill

Behind that locked door I quickly hid anything that was on a counter or shelf. I removed anything in my way like chairs, bulletin boards, videos, magazines, catalogues and everyone's lunch from the day before.
(Thank goodness I had packed wisely and "just in case" brought extra supplies and tablecloths. I guess it was good that I wasn't fully aware of what was my "party room". )

After a little prayer and gusto, in 2 hours I transformed the breakroom into baby showerpalooza.

I had 2 tables to use and one small counter space for the caterer.

I think it turned out great and my client was amazed.

I am so glad everyone had a great time and the guest of honor was surprised
and treated to a wonderful shower by
her friends and co-workers!

Here are a few SWEET shots

I love being able to help someone celebrate and make beautiful memories!
I was proud to make someone smile that day.

I just hope someone is not still looking for something I hid.
