I love my mom! She is the most wonderful, generous person I know. For my whole life she has always been there for me, never too busy to help me. Even if I was just wanting to go shopping as a little girl, or help cook, she was my best friend. Today we still shop for hours and cook old family recipes.
We spent all our time together when I was young. I never wanted to be awway from my mom. I remember, vividly, waiting for her, staring out the window at mother's day out. I never had fun there. I just wanted my mom back. Did you know that I teach now at that same school and my children went there. My kids never wanted to stay either. My heart broke everytime I pulled out of the parking lot. I knew how they felt.
I loved my mom! As a teacher, I take care of my little ones who "want their mommy" after she leaves. I remember being in the same classroom, staring out the same window.
I wanted my mommy too.
In elementary she fought for my right to be tested with a math learning disability, thanks, mom! I never had to take math tests, or take math in college! You Rock!
Now I feel the same fight inside as my oldest daughter struggles in class. Watch me march down that school hallway.
My mom meant business.
My mom was always there for me as I matured. She loved me enough to let me go and "do my own thing". I knew not to do wrong though. I did not like that evil eye or guilt trip! The worst evil eyes always came in church as we giggled and passed notes down the pew. She would stare at me from the choir loft... uh-oh, you knew you were in trouble.
In college, I didn't go far away. In fact, I commuted every day. Yep, I lived with my parents until I got married and moved out of town. I loved coming home and helping my mom cook dinner for my Dad. We had such a tight family. When my Dad got sick with cancer, my mom was as strong as steel. At least I never saw her cry, unless we all were. She kept this family together like glue. My Mom and my Dad we the role model parents with smart and successful children. When my dad was tragically killed in a car wreck, my Mom got the news first. Guess who had to be our comfort and our shoulder to cry on. My Mom.
My Mom was always there.
When I was planning my wedding, she listened to all my ideas and was my worker bee! She tied ribbons, stuffed envelopes, licked stamps(sorry, Mom) erased pencil lines left by the calligrapher(my Dad) and watched me enjoy every detail down to the cut, size, shape and price of this and that. I'm sure I was quite annoying, can you imagine living with your wedding coordinator?! My Mom was there, and thank GOD so was my Dad. As we left the church, guess who stayed behind and cleaned it all up! My Mom.
She is always there for me.
When she retired a few years ago, she moved to Dallas to be with my sister and her two stores. My mom is a book keeper, and my sister needed help. My Mom helps us all. She loves her life in Dallas and Neiman's loves her too! Just kiddn' , mom. (but it is true).
My Mom loves my children. Their grandma is the best. She always has a "surprise" for each of them when she visits or we go to her house. They are spoiled, yes. Spoiled with grandma's love. We all are.
I love My Mom!
This is for you Mom. Wishing we were together on Mother's day. I will be there soon... and we will eat cupcakes!
You are always there for me, and I love you!
