Mikah fell into my lap a few months ago. Little did I know she was right under my nose this whole time. A teacher friend who knows I do parties suggested I take a look at a cookie a parent brought for teacher appreciation day.
I reluctantly followed her to her classroom to take a peek.
Everyone always "lets me know" of someone who "does or makes something"
that they think might be of use to my party world. Being the extremely picky person that I am, I usually am not easily impressed. I was expecting the same reaction this time around.
I could not believe my eyes the masterpeice before me.
Obviously, my next reaction was
"well, what do they taste like?"
In fact they were delicious too. It wasn't long until I could get my hands on a computer keyboard to email Mikah.
Surprisingly, she had already done her homework on me via my teacher friend and I had an email waiting for me.
I suggested she send me some samples of her work and I sent her some party invitations I was working on at that time. It was a matter of days before I had in my hands the most incredible cookies that matched my party themes perfectly. I was sold.
This is a match made in sugar cookie heaven.
This is why I want you to know about Mikah. An artist by trade, I am convinced there isn't anything she can't do.
She has been a pleasure to work with and never winks at the crazy I throw her way.
I am so honored to have her contributing to my blog and my party world!
Here is her first post:
First, a big thanks to JoAnne for letting me guest-post. This is a real treat and honor for me!
Although I've been painting for many years, my time as a cookie artist began not too long ago when I did a cookie pop for my daughter's birthday party.
Since then, it has become a full-time obsession and creative outlet.
I've quickly discovered the amazing potential of this simple confection and look forward to sharing some of my "paintings" and inspiration with you.
I recently created a platter of cookies for a ladies' summer luncheon - a casual gathering that reflected the tropical influences of the hostess' beautiful garden and decor.
The color palette was directly inspired by the amazing Asian porcelain and textiles that would adorn the tables.
Served with a dab of lemon curd & fresh berries, these cookies were the perfect refreshment for the meal's end. The versatility of cut-out cookies are what I love most about working with them.
Whether it be shape, color, texture... there are so many ways to customize cookies and incorporate them
into your party or event.
I look at the sugar cookie just as I used to see a blank canvas - full of limitless possibilities. I can't wait to share them with you on this blog in the coming weeks!
